1 Ford Canada Joins Growing List Of Car Manufacturers Removing AM Radios From Vehicles
Ford Canada announced yesterday that it’s joining the ranks of auto manufacturers that are removing AM radios from all vehicles. A spokesperson for the company said that anyone that wants to listen to AM can link their phones to the entertainment system in their vehicle and stream the content, but this doesn’t address the needs of the people that live in rural areas where data connections can be spotty at best. The announcement follows behind Ford in America, which announced it would be dropping AM radios from new models they produce except for commercial vehicles. Manufacturers of electric vehicles have said that AM radio doesn’t perform well with their models, leading them to announce plans to remove AM radio as well. The move isn’t being received well by many, including FCC Commissioners and members of Congress. Pete Gaynor, the former administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is on record saying that “Experts at FEMA…have been clear: eliminating the AM radio will put public safety at risk.” We Are Broadcasters is leading the push to keep AM radios in vehicles for the over 80 million people who depend on the AM band, and are encouraging everyone to text “AM” to 52886 to let Congress know they want AM radios to stay in vehicles.
2 Prosecutor Files Two Felony Charges Against Ralph Yarl Shooter
The man who shot 16-year-old Ralph Yarl when he rang the doorbell of the man’s home has been charged with two felonies. Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson announced the charges yesterday and said an arrest warrant had been issued for the 84-year-old man. He also said there was a racial component to the shooting but didn’t give any more details; the shooter is white, Yarl is black. Yarl was heading to pick up his 11-year-old twin brothers on Thursday night at at just before 9 pm, but stopped at the wrong house and rang the doorbell. According to attorney Lee Merritt, who’s representing the Yarl family, says the man opened the door, said “Don’t come back around here” and shot Yarl in the head, then in the arm while he was on the ground. In his statement to the police, the shooter said he was “’scared to death’ because of the 16-year-old’s size and his own age. The man is in his 80s. Merritt said President Joe Biden called Yarl yesterday to offer his support. The teen now has traumatic brain injury. He is recovering and was able to tell authorities what happened.
3 Dominion vs. Fox News Trial Starts Today
After an unexplained one-day delay, jury selection and opening statements in Dominion Voting Machine’s defamation lawsuit against Fox News are set for today. Superior Court Judge Eric Davis confirmed the delay in court yesterday, but gave no reason for it, saying “This is not a press conference. I don’t do that.” While many speculated that the delay was to allow the two sides to negotiate a possible settlement, there was no word of any deal being reached as of late last night. Judge Davis has already made some pre-trial rulings in Dominion’s favor, including stating that Fox News’s allegations of election fraud against the company were clearly false. Fox News said in a court filing on Sunday that Dominion had reduced their $1.6 billion request for damages by “more than a half a billion dollars.” A Dominion spokesperson said yesterday that the company’s damages “exceed $1.6 billion.”
