1 Four Killed And 28 Injured At Sweet 16 Birthday Party Shooting In Alabama
Four people were killed and 28 others were injured when gunfire broke out at a Sweet 16 birthday party in Dadeville, Alabama on Saturday night. Officials with Lake Martin Community Hospital said at least 15 teenagers were treated for gunshot wounds, and hospital spokesperson Heidi Smith said at least six had been treated and released as of yesterday, with the other nine transferred to other medical facilities. As of last night, five teens were still in critical condition. Police haven’t released any information about a suspect or a possible motive for the shooting. Dadeville Police Chief Jonathan Floyd said at a press conference yesterday that the shooting was “something that no community should have to endure,” and also asked people to “not let this moment define what you think about the city of Dadeville and our fine people.” The victims killed included the brother of the birthday girl, high school football star Philstavious Dowdell, who was set to graduate next month and had a scholarship to play for Jacksonville State University.
2 Dominion's Trial Against Fox News Delayed Until Tomorrow By Judge
The trial in the $1.6 billion lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News was set to begin this morning, but last night Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis announced that both the remaining part of jury selection and the trial itself would be delayed until tomorrow. Judge Davis said in his statement that he would announce the delay in court today. Several key personnel at Fox News, including Rupert Murdoch, Tucker Carlson, and Sean Hannity are all expected to testify in the trial, and the delay has some legal experts speculating that the network may be trying to work out a settlement deal and avoid the trial entirely. Things haven’t been going well for Fox in the proceedings; last week, Judge Davis said the network’s lawyers delayed producing evidence and didn’t do a proper job of revealing Murdoch’s role at the network. Blake Rohrbacher, a Fox News lawyer, sent a letter of apology to Davis last week.
3 Two Dead, Four Wounded In Second Shooting In Louisville, Kentucky In A Week
For the second time in five days, gunfire claimed lives on the streets of Louisville, Kentucky. Two people were killed and four others wounded at Chickasaw Park in Louisville on Saturday night around 9 p.m. local time. Police say at least one shooter opened fire into a crowd of hundreds that were gathered at the park. The Louisville Police Department is investigating the attack as a homicide but hasn’t identified a suspect yet. According to Louisville Deputy Police Chief Paul Humphreys, even though there were hundreds of people in the park at the time of the shooting, there are no witnesses that have come forward. As we told you last week, a gunman opened fire at Old National Bank in Louisville one week ago today, killing five and wounding eight. Mayor Craig Greenberg said at a news conference at the scene Saturday night, “Please, put your weapons down,” then went on to say, “Gun violence is not the solution to anything.”
