1 Body Cam Footage Released From Tennessee School Shooting

More details emerged yesterday in the wake of the shooting of three adults and three nine-year-old students at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, including the release of bodycam video from the officers that responded to the attack. The video shows officers entering the school, searching for the shooter, and then responding to the sound of shots from the second floor. Police said the suspect was armed with two assault-style rifles, a 9mm handgun, and “significant ammunition.” Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake said the shooter had legally purchased seven guns from five local gun stores and hid them from their parents. Chief Drake also said that the suspect was under a “doctor’s care for an emotional disorder.” While Chief Drake told ABC News they had writings and “a book we consider to be like a manifesto,” he said they haven’t determined a motive “as of yet.”

2 Federal Judge Orders Former Vice President Pence To Testify In Special Counsel Probe Of Trump

Federal Judge James Boasberg, the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, ordered former Vice President Mike Pence to testify before the grand jury involved in the probe of former President Donald Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. The ruling requires Pence to testify but remains under seal. Pence has argued that he’s shielded from having to testify about January 6th because of his position at the time in the legislative branch. While Judge Boasberg did rule that Pence does have some protections against court proceedings because of the Constitution, that immunity doesn’t stop him from testifying about conversations related to Trump’s activities, especially any alleged illegal items. Pence has said he’ll take the case to the Supreme Court if necessary, but it’s unclear if he plans to appeal Judge Boasberg’s ruling.

3 Three Earthquakes Hit San Francisco Area Within Minutes Of Each Other

California’s Bay Area had three jolts from earthquakes within just a few minutes yesterday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the three earthquakes at 6:01 am, 6:03 am, and 6:04 am. The first quake measured 3.5 near Pacifica, California, followed by two 2.6 aftershocks. The earthquakes were felt from Santa Cruz to San Francisco, and while the quakes weren’t large, they added to the weather problems California has been suffering for the last few weeks and struck during strong winds and heavy showers from another storm front passing through the Bay Area at the same time. The USGS said the quakes were unique and didn’t have a “typical” motion; the agency plans to investigate them further.
