1 California Votes To Ban Sale Of New Gas-Powered Cars By 2035
It’s official, the state of California has banned the sale of all new gasoline-powered vehicles by the year 2035. The state says that all new vehicles sold in the state by then may not emit greenhouse gases, with an interim goal of 35-percent by 2026 and almost 70-percent by 2030. But in case you didn’t catch it, the new law will only refer to new vehicles. Drivers will still be able to drive cars previously owned, as well as purchase older ones that are gas-powered. According to Governor Gavin Newsom, about 16% of cars sold in the state are electric, hybrid or hydrogen-fueled. California’s not alone – as Washington state is on track to follow California's lead on banning the sale of new gasoline-powered cars. Governor Jay Inslee tweeted Wednesday that the state is ready to adopt California's regulations by the end of this year.
2 Judge Orders Release Of Redacted Trump Affidavit
In just a few hours, we may have more of an understanding of why the FBI conducted a search of former President Trump's Florida home, Mar-a-lago. This, as federal judge is ordering the Department of Justice to release a redacted affidavit. Earlier this week Judge Bruce Reinhart rejected a request from the feds to keep the entire affidavit under seal, citing "intense public and historical interest in an unprecedented search of a former President's residence." Initially, the D-O-J said they’d have to redact so much that the altered version of the document wouldn’t be worth anything to the public. Reinhart says the government has proved parts of the affidavit should be kept under wraps, but that the planned redactions are acceptable. The affidavit should be made public by noon Eastern time. Taking to Truth Social. Trump remained displeased. “The Radical Left Democrat prosecutors are illegally trying to circumvent, for purely political gain, the Presidential Record’s Act, under which I have done absolutely nothing wrong,” he offered. “It can not be circumvented, for me or any other President. They illegally Raided my home, and took things that should not have been taken. They even broke into my safe, an unthinkable act!” What he’s forgetting? The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act – a law he signed in 2018, making the moving of classified material a felony).
