1 Report: FBI Raid Was Helped By An Informant
As you likely know, the FBI raided former President Trump’s Mar-A-Lago this week – and not only is he outraged, but Republicans en masse have pretty well circled the wagons around him. While he may be claiming a left-wing/Biden conspiracy, sources are telling “Newsweek” that the FBI actually had an informant. That person (or persons) apparently, that not only told them what documents Trump had stashed at his Florida property – but where they were located. On a related note, while Trump and his supporters have railed against the way the raid went down, sources are saying that the intent was much different than what happened. "There is much speculation out there that this is political persecution,” the official says. “But it is really the best and the worst of the bureaucracy in action. They wanted to punctuate the fact that this was a routine law enforcement action, stripped of any political overtones, and yet [they] got exactly the opposite."
2 Biden Signs Burn Pit Act, Thanks Jon Stewart
Jon Stewart has been a very visible, very vocal proponent of taking care of first responders and veterans - specifically their healthcare. As we told you before, he's been on a warpath over Senate Republicans dragging their feet on the Sgt. 1st Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act. Of course, nothing like a little public shame to move things along - and that's why it was appropriate that when President Biden signed the PACT Act into law yesterday at the White House, that he singled out Stewart for his contributions to getting the bill to his desk. “What you’ve done, Jon, matters,” the President said prior to signing the bill. “We owe you big, man. We owe you big.” It was followed by a round of applause for the comedian turned commentator turned veteran’s advocate who relentlessly used his fame as a platform to effect change.
3 IN Officials: Three Dead, Dozens Of Houses Damaged In Massive Explosion
Officials in Evansville, Indiana say at least three people are dead and nearly 40 houses have been damaged after an explosion rocked a local neighborhood. The blast occurred just after one p-m local time. While first responders were quick to get to the scene – they’re still not sure about the exact number of victims is unknown because some of the homes are too unstable for investigators to get inside. “I’d seen photos that have been placed online, but once I walked up to the residence itself and saw the devastation with my own eyes, it was, I mean, it was a gut punch,” says Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke said. “Across the street from the explosion you’ll see house after house that has windows blown out, that has you know there’s insulation blown out from homes.”
