1 Texas Police Take Down Gunman Who Attacked Day Camp
We’re learning more about the deadly North Texas police-involved shooting at a summer camp. Duncanville police say a man went into Duncanville Fieldhouse yesterday morning with a gun, got into an argument with a staffer, then fired a shot. He then apparently attempted to get into a locked classroom, encountered officers – who reportedly arrived on the scene within two minutes. There was a shootout and while officers rendered some aid, he died at a local hospital soon after. Bottom line? No children were hurt, neither were staffers – just many frayed nerves. The Texas Rangers are investigating.
2 Capitol Hearing Reveals Dissent In Trump Camp, Accusation Of Giuliani Intoxication
Former Attorney General Bill Barr claims ex-President Trump appeared to be increasingly "detached from reality" over claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election. Also during the hearing: Clips of Barr's deposition to the January 6th House committee were played during yesterday’s public hearing. Barr said he repeatedly warned the White House that no evidence was emerging to support Trump's claims of widespread fraud. Barr recalled eventually telling Trump that his claims of a stolen election were BS (we censored, he didn’t). Barr also dismissed the voter fraud assertions as "complete nonsense." Barr submitted his resignation after a heated meeting with Trump in the weeks after the election. He argued that those making a case for a stolen election, including Trump, weren't interested in facts. Former Trump adviser Jason Miller says he believes Rudy Giuliani had been drinking on election night in 2020 and gave then-president Trump some poor advice. Miller testified that Giuliani appeared to be inebriated when he spoke with a group of White House officials on election night. Former White House lawyer Eric Herschman and Trump Campaign General Counsel Matt Morgan dismissed claims of irregularities with Dominion voting machines and allegations of fraud. Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée and a former adviser to his father’s re-election bid, got paid $60-thousand for her two-minute speech at the Stop the Steal rally that preceded the attack on the Capitol.
3 Heat Wave Moves East
A massive heat wave that began in the Southwest is moving into the Central and Southern U.S. More than 100-million Americans from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes are under heat alerts through the week as temperatures are expected to be in or near triple digits. All of Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Illinois, Iowa and Indiana are under heat warnings as well as parts of a dozen other states. Meteorologists say the heat is due to a large area of high pressure known as a "heat dome." If you’re in an affected area, it’s suggested that you pay attention to local officials’ warnings. "This is serious heat so don`t underestimate it," the weather service in Memphis says in a statement. "Stay indoors if possible. Check on neighbors, especially the elderly and check the back seat for kids and pets."
