1 Shooting At Texas Elementary School Leaves More Than 20 Dead
At least nineteen children and two adults are dead after a school shooting in South Texas yesterday. What we don’t know yet? If the adult death toll includes the 18-year-old identified by police as the shooter. State police say the shooter, after turning a gun on his grandmother, drove to Robb Elementary in Uvalde, abandoned his car and went into the school where he opened fire. He was reportedly shot and killed by police. While investigators try and make sense of what happened and work to identify those lost, the shooter's grandmother is in critical condition after being shot before the mass shooting at an elementary school in south Texas. President Biden also addressed the nation directly last night. In a televised statement, Biden said he feels for the parents of the dead children. He asked all Americans to pray for all those affected. He then asked, "When in God's name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?" He said he has been pushing for gun legislation for his entire career. He added "we have to do more." Biden urged politicians to act right now.
2 FBI: ISIS Operative In U.S. Plotted To Assassinate George W. Bush
The FBI says an ISIS operative in the U.S. plotted to assassinate former President George W. Bush. An FBI search warrant says two confidential informants claim the alleged terrorist hoped to smuggle an attack team into the country over the Mexican border. “Forbes” reports 52-year-old Shihab Ahmed Shihab, also known as "Abu Ahmed," entered the United States in September 2020 on a visitor visa. The following March, he apparently filed a claim for asylum – and his request for United States citizenship has been pending. Living in Ohio, his plan, according to the warrant, was to get Mexican visitor visas for other ISIS operatives – as many as six – before getting them over the border. This past February, officials say Shihab traveled to Texas to scout the former President’s home and other locations. He’s now been federally charged with an immigration crime and with aiding and abetting a plot to murder.
3 Another Baby Formula Shipment To Arrive In U.S. Today
A second shipment of baby formula is set to arrive in the U.S. today – 39 tons – enough to make more than one-million bottles. This comes after more than 130 pallets of special formula landed in Indianapolis on Sunday for hospitals and pharmacies. After landing in DC at Dulles International Airport, it’ll be moved to a Nestle facility in Pennsylvania for testing before heading to store shelves. In the meantime, Abbott Nutrition is restarting work at the Michigan plant central to the nationwide baby formula recall next month. The company says work will resume on June 4th, with new formula expected to be ready for purchase June 20th. The says they will also release roughly 300-thousand cans of the specialty formula for babies with allergies to cow milk to those who urgently need it, as the formula was not part of the earlier recall. The FDA says enhanced testing will be done to make sure the formula is safe.
