1 Russia Seeks China Assist In War On Ukraine

Russia is reportedly asking China for help. U.S. officials say that Russia has asked China for both military and economic support following its invasion of Ukraine. It's unclear if China has responded to the request, but National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan says “there will absolutely be consequences for large-scale sanctions evasion efforts or support to Russia to backfill them.” "We will not allow that to go forward and allow there to be a lifeline to Russia from these economic sanctions from any country,” he added. “Anywhere in the world.” A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in the U.S. said he was unaware of Russia's request, and that China will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. The Russian embassy has not commented on the report. Sullivan will meet with Chinese security officials in Rome today.

2 Pfizer CEO: Fourth COVID Vaccine Dose May Be Needed

The CEO of Pfizer is saying that a fourth dose of the COVID vaccine may be needed. Appearing on CBS' Face the Nation, Albert Bourla said that the third dose protects against death and hospitalization, but not as strongly against infection. “The protection that you are getting from the third, it is good enough, actually quite good for hospitalizations and deaths,” Bourla said. “It’s not that good against infections, but doesn’t last very long. But we are just submitting those data to the FDA, and then we will see what the experts also will say outside Pfizer.” Pfizer also recently submitted data to the FDA concerning a fourth dose and was busy developing an annual COVID vaccine that would protect against all variants. Bourla also mentioned building a better flu vaccine and tackling cancer treatments as Pfizer's goals for the future.
