3 Things To Know Today

1 Americans, Children Among The Missionaries Kidnapped In Haiti

Officials say at least 17 missionaries have been kidnapped in Haiti. Among the group are 16 Americans and one Canadian – there are also five children being held. The Ohio-based missionaries were reportedly taken while heading north of Port-au-Prince after building an orphanage. The U.S. State Department says they are aware of the situation and working with Haitian authorities to make contact with the 400 Mawozo gang. The group is reportedly well-known to local law enforcement – and while a ransom demand hasn’t been made, it’s believed to be coming. That’s for two reasons: one, it’s said to be the regular practice of the 400 Mawozo gang – and the church sponsoring the missionary group has significant assets. In fact, experts believe the victims will be ransomed for up to one-million dollars each.

2 China Tests Nuclear Capable Low Orbit Hypersonic Craft

China has apparently tested a nuclear-capable low orbit hypersonic craft. According to a report from “Financial Times,” the rocket carrying the glide craft was tested in August. And that glide craft? It can carry a nuclear weapon. The craft can reportedly take the rocket into low earth orbit so it can then travel towards its target with maneuverability which makes it more difficult to track than an intercontinental ballistic missile. The report cites U.S. intelligence sources who said China's level of hypersonic expertise revealed by the test is noteworthy. Among other things, it “was far more advanced than US officials realized.” But worse? The United States doesn’t have the capability to fight back. As one anonymous source noted, “We have no idea how they did this.”

3 Bill Clinton Back At Home In New York

Former President Bill Clinton is out of the hospital. He walked out of University of California Irvine Medical Center around 8am yesterday morning. The 75-year-old former commander-in-chief was in Southern California to attend events on behalf of his charitable foundation when he was admitted to the hospital for I-V antibiotic treatment. He apparently had a urinary infection that became septic. Still, he’s said to be recovering well and was accompanied by his wife, Hillary Clinton, as he left the hospital. When asked by reporters how he was feeling, Mr. Clinton responded with a ‘thumbs up.’
