1 Former President Bill Clinton Hospitalized In SoCal
Former President Bill Clinton is in the hospital because of a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream – what’s known as ‘sepsis.’ Apparently, he’s been there since Tuesday – and in the ICU – but his doctors say he was admitted for "close monitoring" and given "IV antibiotics and fluids." Docs also noted Clinton is responding well to the treatment and "hope to have him go home soon.” At 75-years-old, Mr. Clinton has had a history of heart issues, including a quadruple bypass operation in 2004. “He is on the mend, in good spirits,” a statement from Clinton’s doctors notes. “He is incredibly thankful to the doctors, nurses, and staff providing him with excellent care.”
2 Jan 6th Panel Chair Threatens Bannon With Contempt Of Congress
The chairman of the committee investigating the January 6th Capitol attack is threatening Steve Bannon with criminal contempt of Congress. Bannon is a former strategist in the Trump White House who is refusing to testify after receiving a subpoena. Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson released a statement saying Bannon is "hiding" behind former President Trump's "insufficient, blanket and vague statements he has purported to invoke." Trump has ordered former aides to reject subpoenas to testify, even though he no longer retains executive authority. The committee will vote next week on whether to refer a contempt citation to the full House. Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, said his committee will not be stonewalled.
3 Ex-Boeing Pilot Indicted For Fraud In 737 Max Tragedy
A former Boeing test pilot has been indicted on charges he allegedly lied about the safety of 737 Max planes. Prosecutors say Mark Forkner's choice to mislead the FAA during evaluation put passengers in danger and left pilots "in the lurch." He's accused of giving false information about a part of the flight controls that later played a role in two deadly international crashes. That led the planes to be grounded around the world. Prosecutors claim Forkner did it to save the company money. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. “Forkner allegedly withheld crucial information about the Boeing 737 MAX and deceived the FAA, showing blatant disregard for his responsibilities and the safety of airline customers and crews,” said Assistant FBIDirector Calvin Shivers. “The FBI will continue to hold individuals like Forkner accountable for their fraudulent acts which undermine public safety.”
