2 NY Gov Andrew Cuomo Disputes Findings In NY Attorney General Report

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is facing serious charges of sexual harassment – though they won’t be criminal. Attorney General Letitia James announced the findings of her five-month investigation into allegations from multiple women that Cuomo created a sexually hostile work environment. He also retaliated against those who rebuffed his advances. The report cites numerous women, including current and former state employees, who claim the Democrat touched their "intimate body parts" and made unwanted advances. He was also accused of asking a sexual assault survivor question of a personal – even sexual nature. In one instance, a staffer said Cuomo reached under her blouse and touched her breasts. James said she has proof that Cuomo's office intimidated witnesses and created a "toxic work environment" based upon 74-thousand pieces of evidence...and interviews with more than 150 people. James explained that the charges are of a civil nature, not criminal. However, investigator Anne Clark added other state prosecutors may choose to turn the case into a criminal matter at a future date. For his part, Mr. Cuomo is unrepentant – and denying everything. While lawmakers across the board – both Republican and Democrat – are calling for Cuomo to step down (even President Biden), a defiant Cuomo posted a video online saying that the allegations are false and have caused his family "much pain." He did admit to asking sexual questions to an assault survivor on his staff, but says he was only trying to “help her.” Cuomo said he hugs and kisses people all the time and showed numerous photos of him kissing many dignitaries, including former President Clinton. He blasted the report as unfair and biased.

3 Biden Administration Extends Eviction Moratorium

The Biden Administration is taking action on limiting evictions. Biden has been under pressure to act after an eviction moratorium expired last weekend. However, the White House has insisted it didn't have the authority to extend it. While the CDC is putting out a new eviction moratorium as the Delta variant of coronavirus spreads across the country – President Biden admits that the extension will likely be challenged in court. The “target” order applies to counties experiencing high levels of community transmission and expires October 3rd. The health agency argued the moratorium will allow more time "for rent relief to reach renters and to further increase vaccination rates."
