1 Military Aircraft Goes Down In Las Vegas
An aircraft associated with the U.S. military has crashed in Las Vegas. Nellis Air Force Base confirmed that there was an "incident" involving one of its aircraft and the crash happened in the northeast part of the city, about three miles south of the Air Force base. It's been reported that it was a Dassault Aviation Mirage F-1. While the pilot hasn’t been identified, it has been confirmed that the pilot was killed and that they were a non-Air Force contractor. In a statement, Nellis Air Force Base offered, "The men and women of Team Nellis send our deepest condolences to the teammates, friends and family of our Draken wingman.” Draken US is the Florida-based company who owned the aircraft and say they’re assisting the investigation in every way they can. "Draken has received news of a downed aircraft out of Nellis AFB and the tragic loss of one of our pilots,” a company statement notes. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people and families affected by this event. We are doing everything in our power to assist them in this time of need, and we are working closely with federal, state and local authorities.”
2 Tornado Damages Kansas Town
Cleanup is underway after a tornado struck a northwestern Kansas town. The Sheridan County Emergency Manager says a tornado touched down in the town of Selden last night. Officials say the tornado tore roofs off houses, toppled tin buildings, uprooted trees, overturned train cars, blew semi trucks over and caused a gas leak. But the great news? There were no reported injuries or deaths related to the storm. According to the Sheridan County Emergency Manager, the damage was extensive to homes, buildings – including the historic hotel in town – powerlines, trees and grain silos along Highway 83 that runs through town.
3 Manhunt Continues For Person Who Killed Boy In Road Rage Incident
A desperate manhunt is continuing in Southern California in connection with a road rage shooting that left a six-year-old boy dead in California on Friday. It happened on the Costa Mesa Freeway in the city of Orange. According to investigators, say shots rang out from a white vehicle while the boy – little Aiden Leos – was riding in the back seat of his mother's silver Chevy Cruze. The child was shot in the stomach through the trunk and while in his booster seat. He later died at Children's Hospital of Orange County. His mother was not injured. The Highway Patrol is asking anyone who may have dash-cam video of the incident to contact authorities immediately. As for the “why?” Aiden’s mom, Joanna Cloonan, reportedly gestured to a driver that cut her off. The gunman is believed to a passenger in the other car.
