1 Two Children Found Dead In Nebraska Home
An investigation is underway after two children were found dead in a Nebraska home. Police say the bodies of three-year-old Theodore Price and five-year-old Emily Price were found yesterday morning in a home in Bellevue, Nebraska. Authorities were sent to the home after the children's mother, who lives in Illinois, hadn't heard from them. "She said she hadn't heard from them in a couple days" Bellevue Police Department Capt. Andy Jashinske told reporters. “She's required to by court order and so officers responded.” Officers didn’t breach the door due to a lack of exigent circumstances. Officials say they did respond however, when the mother got inside and found the children dead. The father of the children, 34-year-old Adam Price, was arrested in Pacifica, California, later on in the evening. Investigators have not said how the children died.
2 CDC Director: New Guidance Meant To Help People Make Health Decisions
The CDC Director says new guidance released week is meant to help Americans determine what's best for their own health. Speaking on ABC's “This Week,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky says the science shows vaccinated people are safe to do many of the things they couldn't do for much of the pandemic. Walensky also says fully vaccinated people can resume much of their normal lives, while others should still be taking precautions. Walensky says the science shows how important it is for everyone to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated.
3 Iowa Train Derailment Causes Evacuations
Folks in a rural area of Iowa are being evacuated after a train derailment. Dozens of train cars went off the tracks near Sibley in the northwest part of the state yesterday afternoon, causing a massive fire. Anyone within a five-mile radius of the derailment has been evacuated. The train was transporting fertilizer and there are fears that it could explode. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that hazmat equipment was on the scene and the Red Cross in Iowa wrote on Facebook that they opened a reception center for displaced families. "Individuals and families displaced from their home are welcome at the center where volunteers are on hand to assist those impacted,” the Red Cross says in a statement. “At this time, overnight accommodations are not being provided, but the Red Cross is monitoring the situation and is prepared to provide lodging, if the need arises.”
