1 The Search Is On For Missing Indonesian Sub With 53 On Board

Searchers have descended on the Bali Strait – a stretch of water between the islands of Bali and Java, which to the Indian Ocean and Bali Sea. This, as a submarine belonging to the Indonesian Navy has gone missing with 53 on board. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, the vessel, lost contact during a torpedo drill. Apparently, the submarine asked for permission to submerge at 3am. local time before losing contact. Even worse? Ministry officials note that an oil spill was seen in aerial surveillance near the dive point, about four hours later. While authorities are hoping for the best, they’re also expecting the worst. The vessel typically dives 500-meters below sea level, but it’s estimated it went 100- and 200-meters farther. As Indonesian Navy spokesman First Adm. Julius Widjojono notes, “Let's pray for them so they can survive.”

2 Columbus Police Release More Body Camera Footage From Deadly Shooting

Police in Columbus, Ohio are releasing more body camera footage of the deadly shooting of a teenage girl. The shooting Tuesday resulted in the death of 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant. The video appears to show the young women armed with a knife and trying to stab two people when an officer opened fire. Interim Police Chief Michael Woods promises the department won't interfere with the investigation into the incident by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Mayor Andrew Ginther promised more information about what happened will come out soon. However, he said people shouldn't compromise the investigation that's ongoing. Meanwhile, the Governor of Ohio says he'll be unveiling a police reform bill for the state in a matter of days. Speaking to reporters, Governor Mike DeWine says the measure is currently being planned out and intends to outline more training for police officers regarding de-escalation tactics as well as logs to record police involved incidents in the state.

3 White House: Updated Guidelines For Vaccinated Americans Coming Soon

The White House says those who are vaccinated in the U.S. can expect new recommendations from the CDC in the near future. White House Senior Adviser Andy Slavitt said he's hopeful in "the next couple of weeks" the agency will release more relaxed guidelines to Americans who are fully vaccinated. He added while the new rules will be based on science, he hopes for them to be reasonable. At the same time, at least 150 countries are now on the State Department's "Do Not Travel" list because of the coronavirus. The agency so far has added 116 this week, including Canada, France, Germany and the U.K. The additions follow Monday's announcement that roughly 80% of countries around the globe would be moved to its highest advisory level. The advisory is a recommendation and doesn't keep Americans from traveling.
