1 Eight Killed In Three Separate Shootings At Atlanta Spas
A series of shootings at Atlanta area massage parlors has left eight people dead. Police have arrested 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long and they believe he's responsible for three shootings yesterday. While a motive hasn’t been revealed, police say that the fact that Asian businesses were targeted suggests that race may have played a role, though it's only one possibility. The first happened at a massage parlor in Cherokee County, north of Atlanta, and left four people dead and one injured. About an hour later, shots were fired at neighboring spas in north Atlanta, leaving another four dead. Cherokee County Sheriff's Captain Jay Baker said investigators linked Long to all the shootings through images and vehicle descriptions from the scenes. Stop AAPI Hate is already denounced the shooting “The reported shootings of multiple Asian American women today in Atlanta is an unspeakable tragedy — for the families of the victims first and foremost, but also for the Asian American community, which has been reeling from high levels of racist attacks over the course of the past year," the group said in a statement.. "This latest attack will only exacerbate the fear and pain that the Asian American community continues to endure."
2 U.S. Intel: Foreign Adversaries Tried To Interfere In 2020 Election
U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded that foreign adversaries – including Russia – did try to interfere in the 2020 elections, though not in the way you might think. Iran and China are also cited in the report released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Essentially, the report says Iran tried to hurt Trump, Russia tried to help...and China decided to stay out of it. There were extensive Russian efforts aimed to denigrate the candidacy of now-President Biden and the Democratic Party. The report argues that Russian President Vladimir Putin authorized the operation, primarily through social media. What no one actually did? The report concludes that while social media was a big player, there was no actual hacking of the infrastructure, data or voting machines.
3 Biden To Illegals: Don't Come Here Right Now
The Biden administration is facing a nightmare scenario at the border we share with Mexico. As such, President Biden is telling migrants not to come to the U.S. “right now.” In an interview with ABC News, Biden said folks shouldn't leave their communities with hopes of getting into the U.S. Biden admitted that a new surge of migrants at the border could be worse than other surges in recent years – but hedged that surges were seen in previous years (something officials at the border aren’t exactly agreeing with). Customs and Border Protection officers say that as many as 600 unaccompanied minors are arriving every day. For his part, former President Trump is pointing the blame at his successor for the surge of migrants at the southern border. Trump told Fox News his administration did a number of things to deter migrants from trying to cross the border, but "all of that is now eroded." Trump himself received criticism for his handling of immigration and migrant children.
