3 Things To Know Today

1 Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Coming Online

The CDC has given the green light to distribute Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine. They’re shipping out today – and expected to start getting into arms as early as tomorrow. A CDC panel voted to recommend the single-dose shot for use in the U.S. just days after the FDA granted emergency use authorization. Johnson & Johnson's vaccine is the first single dose COVID vaccine on the market. While the Pfizer and Moderna products are focused on preventing any infection, the J&J vax hits that mark at about 85%. But this vaccine? It protects people from severe complications and death to the tune of 100%. For his part, Dr. Anthony Fauci says the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is strong protection against COVID-19 – and on NBC’s “Meet The Press” noted that it shows a lot of promise against the recently discovered variants.

2 House Passes Massive Coronavirus Stimulus Package

The House has giving the green light to President Biden's massive coronavirus stimulus package. Lawmakers voted to approve the one-point-nine-trillion dollar bill, largely along party lines with a 219-to-212 vote. It now goes to the Senate for approval, which it’s expected to get. This package includes direct payments for some Americans and aid for small businesses. The White House and congressional Democrats called for the bill to be passed because it's an urgent priority. Republicans argued the bill is far too expensive and filled with things that are unrelated to the pandemic. Like what? $1.5 million for a bridge connecting Canada to New York, $100-million for underground rail project in Silicon Valley and nearly $500-million in grants to fund activities related to the arts, humanities, libraries and museums, and Native American language preservation and maintenance. There’s also $200-million to the Institute of Museum and Library Services to carry out the Library Services and Technology Act and $1.5-billion for Amtrak. Which reportedly hasn’t even spent the billion bucks in aid it’s already received.

3 Trump Teases Another Possible WH Run In CPAC Appearance

As former President Trump strode onto the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference summit in Florida, he clearly had plenty of fans in the room – as they positively exploded when he asked, “Miss me yet?” In Trump’s keynote remarks, he also said the journey he and supporters started four years ago is "far from being over." Does that mean another run at the White House? Trump didn’t say exactly...though he did mused about “beating them a third time.” Trump did say he’s not thinking about starting a new political party – calling it “fake news.” In his eyes, the Republican Party just needs to “unite.” Ostensibly, behind him. Trump had not spoken in public since President Biden was inaugurated on January 20th. And to that end, Trump said Biden has had the most disastrous first month of any president in history. Trump argued that "America first" has become "America last" in one short month.
