1 Trump Addresses America From The Hospital
It’s been an eventful weekend for President Trump. Aside from a coronavirus diagnosis, he ended up in Walter Reed Army Hospital...and while the Twitterverse has been alight with everything from well wishes to sick wishes...and even conspiracy theories about his ‘not being sick at all,’ he’s been doing his best to keep up appearances. New pictures released by the White House and posted by Ivanka Trump show the President at work while hospitalized – taking part in a phone call with Vice President Pence, Secretary of State Pompeo and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in his conference room at Walter Reed Medical Center. But then, he also posted a video thanking his supporters – before packing into a vehicle for a drive-by outside the hospital – something he’s also been served plenty of criticism for. The White House insists it was safe for Trump to do so. While he returned, his doctors say his condition is improved and he could be released later today.
2 Pelosi: Trump COVID Diagnosis Changes Dynamic Of Stimulus Talks
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says President Trump's positive coronavirus test changes the dynamic of ongoing negotiations over a new stimulus package – and that the shift leaves her hopeful about what’s to come. She told MSNBC that the coronavirus is vicious and said the ongoing economic impacts are devastating. Talks have been deadlocked for weeks, but there has been a flurry of negotiating activity this week between Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. "I think we’re coming to terms in terms of the money on crushing the virus finally,” Pelosi noted. “But it’s the language that is important.” Both Pelosi and Mnuchin have signaled that hopes are high about a new round of stimulus coming to Americans.
3 Breonna Taylor Recordings Released
The Breonna Taylor grand jury recordings have been released – well, about 20 hours of audio were handed over to a Kentucky judge minutes before the deadline on Friday.Attorney General Daniel Cameron was originally ordered to released the recordings on, but was given a two-day extension to redact witness personal information. But information is still lacking – and what there is, is problematic for Cameron. For one, transcripts were previously expected to be released, but it appears now only audio has been public. But also, there’s the content of the audio. For one, Cody Etherton – the neighbor of Taylor’s who police claimed heard them announce themselves before breaching Taylor’s door – said in a statement that he DIDN’T hear that at all. For another, the unlike what Cameron has previously suggested, the grand jury was never asked to consider any charges specific to the killing of Ms. Taylor. The family is now asking that a new special prosecutor be appointed and that the case be reopened.
