SAFN Video Of The Day

Band director in Fergus Falls, MN, Scott Kummrow, decided he wanted to make the virtual graduation ceremony for Fargus Falls high school seniors special. So Scott recorded himself playing all 22 parts of 'Pomp and Circumstance' on 13 different instruments. Typically at graduation ceremonies 'Pomp and Circumstance' is played when graduates are coming into the ceremony. I was in the band in high school and part of college and the band performed 'Pomp and Circumstance' every year. But since students are not able to physically go to school (and therefore not able to go to band practice) and there are no in-person graduation ceremonies, the band would not be performing and there would possibly not be any 'Pomp and Circumstance' for the virtual ceremony. The first video that Scott did to make this impressive recording was the video of him playing the tuba part. He then decided he was going to have a little fun with it and change up his outfit for every part. In the video of him conducting, he's wearing his cap and gown from when he got his masters. He also decided for the virtual graduation to make an individual message for each of his seniors but he said that "'those felt a little too personal to share with the world'" so they are not included in the video he shared on YouTube. In total, the video took him two days to make and "his face was not cooperating with all the changes" towards the end, but he did it!
