1 Massive 69-Car Pileup Injures More Than 50 In VA

Ice and fog in the early morning hours caused a massive “chain reaction” pileup on an interstate in Virginia that left dozens of people with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening. At least 69 vehicles crashed in the westbound lanes of I-64 near Williamsburg at 7:51 a.m. Police say that at the time of the crash, ice was present on the Queens Creek Bridge and heavy fog covered the area. Authorities say that the initial cause was still unknown and may take several days to learn as troopers continue to investigate.First responders had to walk on cars and wreckage to get to those that needed help. Local officials say that the structure of the bridge was not compromised during the crash. The roadway was eventually reopened later in the day.

2 WH Official Says Trump Impeached Because He's Winning

Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff is defending President Trump after last week's House impeachment vote. Marc Short told NBC's Meet The Press that the White House believes Trump was impeached because of a Democratic fear that the president could be reelected. Short said Trump was also impeached because he's winning in so many ways, including taxes, the economy, low unemployment, military funding, and a new trade deal.Short also predicted that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer could end up coming to an agreement on a Senate impeachment trial.

3 Memorial Party In Chicago, Ends In 13 People Shot

Chicago police are questioning a person of interest after 13 people were wounded, four of them critically, during a shooting inside a memorial gathering early yesterday morning in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. Marciano White is facing a charge of unlawful use of weapon by a felon at the scene however, police couldn't confirm whether he fired any shots during the incident.The shooting occurred at a gathering to celebrate the birthday of a 22-year-old man who was shot and killed in April while attempting a carjacking. He was shot by a 41-year-old concealed carry license holder, who police say was the victim. The violence began about 12:40 a.m and the injured ranged in age from 16 to 48. Police say that there was a dispute during the party and someone just started shooting. The mayor says she plans on increasing patrols in the area and promises to bring justice for the victims of the shooting.
