Bahamas Update: 2500 Listed As Missing

While the Bahamian death toll from Hurricane Dorian currently stands at 50, it’s all but been accepted that the “final” number will be much higher. And now? We may have a hint as to what that number may be. As officials do their best to tally the displaced and the lost, the new number of the “missing” has been clocked at two-thousand, five-hundred. Meanwhile, the 70-thousand people without homes, who are looking to flee the destruction shouldn’t expect to come to America. Days after saying that Bahamians would need proper documentation to seek refuge in the U.S., it’s official: the United States will not give people fleeing the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian temporary protected status. Granting that status to those displaced by the storm would allow them to legally live and work in the U.S. until it's safe to return to the islands.
