3 Things To Know Today

1 Florida Facing Serious Trouble As Dorian Is Officially A Hurricane

Florida is officially preparing for Hurricane Dorian. The category one hurricane skirted around Puerto Rico, with the island avoiding a direct hit. Now, as it’s moved on from the Caribbean, it’s cruising into perfect conditions for gaining strength. Forecasters say the storm will now take a northwestward turn on a path towards the Sunshine State, and while they haven’t nailed down where Dorian will strike exactly, Floridians aren’t taking any chances – especially because there is a significant possibility that Dorian will become a category three hurricane. According to the National Hurricane Center, Dorian will make landfall late Sunday or early Monday morning. Florida's governor has declared a state of emergency to open up resources for emergency response agencies.

2 DHS Blocks Dems From Visiting Detention Facilities

While President Trump has hailed himself as “the most transparent president in history,” Fox News has learned that a new directive from the Department of Homeland Security isn’t exactly supporting that notion. According to Fox, the DHS has will no longer allow Democratic staffers from the House Oversight Committee to visiting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities at the U.S.-Mexico border. Officials allege it’s because the committee staff were “disruptive.” In what way? Officials say staffers were being "rude" to officers, refused to skipped some scheduled tours and refused to leave one site after their scheduled window. Dems, of course, are saying that the decision is because they’re uncovered truths that would be very damaging to the President. Not so, says the agency, who says they reached out to the bosses about the behavior – and were told that the next round of visitors weren’t planning to follow instructions either.

3 Americans Dread The 2020 Election

Feeling really lousy about the next election? You’re not alone. According to a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll, Americans across the country see the election the most important of our lifetimes. At the same time, there seems to be a pervasive feeling of “we’re losing no matter what the result is.” Here’s why: Nearly four in 10 say that if the candidate they support loses, they would have little or no confidence that the election had been conducted in a fair-and-square way. And while many agree that the threats to the process differ in origin, 30% of Republicans and 45% of Democrats agree…it’s a mess all the way around. And as proof, CLICK HERE to look at what one Mississippi voter experienced this week when TRYING to vote in a primary (or look to the right). Is President Trump’s rhetoric “too hot” for average voters? According to the survey, 41% said they’d vote for an unnamed Democratic nominee if the election were held today, with 39% for Trump. After that, 10% said they’d vote for a third-party candidate while another 10% were undecided.
