Dying 9-11 1st Responder Delivers Final Message

A 9-11 first responder who is dying of cancer is delivering a final message. Former NYPD detective Luis Alvarez, who you’ll recall testified before congress last week in support of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, is now in hospice care. Alvarez breathed in toxic dust at ground zero in 2001 – and he got sick 16 years later. Despite being in hospice care, Alvarez promised to keep fighting for the 9-11 bill, which would permanently provide funds for victims of the terror attacks. “I’m still here and still fighting,” he noted. “They need to pass this bill now.”
