3 Things To Know Today

1 VA Capitol In Chaos

Who knows what’s in the water in Virginia, but one thing’s for sure: there’s total chaos in the Capitol. As we told you before, it’s been a bizarre week with Governor Ralph Northam has been dealing with a black face debacle. Then, Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax found himself accused of sexual assault. So if they get pushed out…Attorney General Mark Herring would step in. Not so fast. You see, Herring also admits that he, too dressed up in black face at a college party in 1980. “I was a 19-year-old undergraduate in college, some friends suggested we attend a party dressed like rappers we listened to at the time, like Kurtis Blow, and perform a song,” he says in a statement. “It sounds ridiculous even now writing it. But because of our ignorance and glib attitudes…we dressed up and put on wigs and brown makeup.” Herring goes on to say that it was a “one time occurrence” and added that he is “deeply, deeply sorry for the pain that I cause with this revelation.” Apologies from all three men aside, these ‘revelations’ have thrown state government and the state Democratic party into complete turmoil – Herring’s once-planned 2021 gubernatorial run notwithstanding. 2 Trump Accuses House Dems Of "Presidential Harassment

President Trump yesterday accused House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff of "presidential harassment" over the announcement of a new, expansive investigation into Russian election interference and the president's finances. Trump also referred to the Democratic congressman as a "political hack." Trump went on to say, "He has no basis to do that. He's just a political hack who's trying to build a name for himself," adding, "It's just presidential harassment and it's unfortunate and it really does hurt our country." In what appeared to be a response to Trump's remarks, Schiff tweeted: "I can understand why the idea of meaningful oversight terrifies the President. Several of his close associates are going to jail, others await trial, and criminal investigations continue." Schiff added that the committee will "do our job and won't be distracted or intimidated by threats or attacks."

3 Trump Talks Up Successes Against ISIS

President Trump showered praised on the US and its allies for progress made in the fight against ISIS. In remarks to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS ministerial at the State Department yesterday, the President touted the territorial gains made against the terror group. "The United States military, our coalition partners and the Syrian Democratic Forces have liberated virtually all of the territory previously held by ISIS in Syria and Iraq. It should be formally announced sometime probably next week that we will have 100% of the caliphate," he said before cautioning that he wants "to wait for the official word." He claimed that forces had "eliminated almost every one of" the 60 top ISIS officials and "more than 100 other top ISIS officials have been eliminated and tens of thousands of ISIS fighters are gone." The President also told the audience of representatives from the 79 members of the coalition that the US "(looks) forward to giving our brave warriors in Syria a warm welcome back home."
