House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is following suit and shifting gears to focus on safely reopening schools in the fall during the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking with reporters, the California Republican said "it's not a matter if we should reopen, but how" to do it.
McCarthy says they want to "give flexibility" to parents about school and daycare. He pleaded Democrats to meet and debate the subject to develop a path forward.
