Robert Langlais, a 33-year-old from Massachusetts, found himself in a tight spot when he got stuck in a chimney while trying to evade police on Tuesday (December 10). The incident occurred when the Fall River Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence on Canal Street. Langlais, along with another suspect, attempted to flee via the rooftop. In a move reminiscent of Santa Claus, Langlais tried to hide in a chimney but became hopelessly stuck.
According to a Facebook post by the Fall River Police Department, Langlais required assistance from the very detectives he was trying to escape. The Fall River Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene to rescue him. Once freed, Langlais was taken to a local hospital as a precaution and was medically cleared.
Langlais was subsequently arrested for possession of Class A and B drugs, along with charges from outstanding warrants. Another individual, Tanisha Ibay, aged 32, was also arrested at the scene for similar drug charges. The other suspect managed to escape by jumping onto a parked vehicle and remains at large.
Neighbor Jim Medeiros commented on the situation, telling WJAR, "He went down like Santa Claus."
The police released bodycam footage of the incident, which you can watch below:
