The Texas Ethics Commission is requiring social media figures to disclose when they're paid for political content. The agency voted 7-0 on Tuesday to approve the new rule, which was first proposed in March. A year ago, the Texas Tribune reported that a company called Influenceable was quietly paying Gen Z influencers to create social media posts defending impeached Attorney General Ken Paxton and attacking Texas Republicans leading the impeachment effort. Commissioners didn't mention Influenceable by name on Tuesday.
