Gov. Greg Abbott is calling for an investigation of Atmos Energy's handling of the hard freeze that hit the state last weekend. Abbott asked the state attorney general and the state agency that regulates oil and gas drilling to probe the state's largest natural gas provider for its apparent failure to prepare for the winter storm. On December 23rd, the Dallas-based company asked its two-million Texas customers to lower their thermostats and refrain from using gas-powered appliances through the Christmas weekend. Atmos reported low gas pressure in North and Central Texas that left some customers in the cold.
