Group To Sue Biden Administration Over Endangered Ocelots In South Texas

An environmental group intends to sue the Biden Administration for failing to protect an endangered species in South Texas. The Center for Biological Diversity has filed a notice of intent to sue government agencies including the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection. The group says the government's work to repair and construct levees along the border ignores federal wildlife protections for the ocelot, a species put on the endangered list in 1982. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates that fewer than 50 ocelots are still alive in the United States, and all of them currently live in South Texas.
