PUC And ERCOT Say Power Will Stay On This Winter

The top energy officials in Texas are promising there won't be massive outages again this winter. Public Utility Commission Chairman Peter Lake says the "ERCOT grid is stronger and more reliable than ever." The PUC says more than 99% of the 850 Texas power plants submitted their winter weather readiness reports by the December First deadline, and inspections of the state's generator units will be done by the 29th. Any energy facilities that fail an inspection will be fined a million dollars per day.
