Federal Judge Blocks Texas Law Banning Social Media Content Censorship

State officials are expected to appeal after a federal judge in Austin blocked Texas' new law banning viewpoint discrimination by social media. The legislature passed House Bill 20 this year after Republicans complained that Facebook, Twitter, and other tech platforms censor conservative views. The judge ruled that the law unconstitutionally violates the companies' First Amendment free speech rights. The law was to take effect on Thursday.
