A Southwest Austin man is dead after an armed standoff with police on Wednesday afternoon. Acting under an administrative warrant, city code personnel went to a home on Pinkney Lane to cut the man's lawn. The man, described as being in his 50s, reportedly opened fire on them. SWAT officers responded shortly before 11 a.m., resulting in the lockdown of a nearby school. Around 3:20 p.m., the man fired shots at the police, and his house somehow caught fire. About 20 minutes later, he came out of the garage carrying weapons, and a SWAT officer shot and killed him. His name hasn't been released.
