Del Rio Shutting Down Toll Booths At Border

DEL RIO, TX - SEPTEMBER 17: Migrants, mostly from Haiti, gather at a makeshift encampment under the International Bridge on the broder between Del Rio, TX and Acuña, MX on September 17, 2021 in Del Rio, Texas. The makeshift encampment has grown rapidly and officials are struggling to provide food, water, shelter, and sanitation, forcing between 8,000 and 12,000 migrants to walk across the Rio Grande several times each day for basic necessities. Del Rio Mayor Bruno Lozano says city police and state troopers are closing all toll booths at the Port of Entry Bridge. The move comes over concerns about a flood of migrants being held there. Lozano says as of today, the number of people being detained under the bridge has reached 12-thousand-700. He says many of the immigrants are from Haiti
