San Antonio city staff are about to set up an emergency fund to help uninsured people affected by flooding. Summer floods affected a number of local neighborhoods, including some in City Councilwoman Melissa Cabello Havrda's district. She worked with city staff to establish the fund. Starting October 1st, Havrda says city funds will be available to help residents who don't have flood insurance and aren't eligible to receive FEMA assistance.
