The Texas Education Agency is appointing a monitor to the South San Antonio ISD to deal with problems between the board of trustees and the superintendent. The agency notified School Board President Ernesto Arellano and Superintendent Marc Puig the move comes after a two-year investigation of internal problems in the district. The probe found that board members violated the Texas Education Code by failing to work with Puig on certain items pertaining to the district's educational plan. The investigation also found that the school board had overreached its authority in certain matters.
