Hurricane Ida is causing serious problems for the roofing industry in San Antonio. Parts and labor are flowing into Louisiana to deal with its thousands of storm-damaged roofs, draining resources out of surrounding states. Commercial roofers are especially running short on roofing insulation and screws. A local roofer says the pandemic was already causing price increases and supply problems, not to mention a labor shortage. With workers headed to higher-paying jobs in Louisiana, the local situation is likely to get worse, and roofs pricier.
