San Antonio ISD's mask and vaccination mandates will remain in effect despite Gov. Greg Abbott's bans on local requirements. SAISD Superintendent Pedro Martinez said Monday that the mandates were prompted by increases in coronavirus cases among students enrolled in a summer program. He says there are still many unvaccinated persons among the district's 46-thousand students and their families. Martinez says SAISD is seeing about 200 new cases a week, which is better than some other local districts.
