Austin leaders and doctors are urging people to get the coronavirus shot due to rising cases. They held a virtual news conference this morning with Austin-Travis County Health Authority Dr. Desmar Walkes saying vaccines will protect people from COVID, including pregnant women. Baylor Scott and White Temple Dr. Jessica Ehrig says the new Delta variant can hit pregnant moms pretty hard leading to an increased risk of death. Doctors promise the COVID shot is safe for expecting moms.
