San Antonio Officials Say Homeless Camp Ban Will Face Enforcement Problems

San Antonio city leaders say a state law banning homeless camps statewide will face some problems when it comes to enforcement. Patrick Steck, assistant director of the city's Department of Human Services, says it's already illegal to set up a homeless camp in San Antonio. He says the ordinance has been in effect since 2005, but enforcement was relaxed during the pandemic because of the CDC's social distancing guidelines. Homeless advocates say closing down a homeless camp only causes it to move somewhere else.
