Austin Delays Release Of Approved Homeless Encampments

The City of Austin is delaying the announcement of approved homeless encampments in the city. The list was expected to be released yesterday, but the Homeless Strategy Office told city leaders that new restrictions are making it difficult to find suitable locations. The city council ruled last month that the sites could not be near a school or restrict access to high-use public facilities. The office is asking the council and Mayor Steve Adler to relax the restrictions so more locations can be considered.
