Abbott Looks To Veto Budget Item, Cut Funding For Texas Legislative Branch

Governor Greg Abbott is looking to cut funding for the Texas Legislature after several GOP-sponsored bills were not passed during the session. The governor announced yesterday that he will veto Article Ten of the state budget, stating that there is "no pay for those who abandon their responsibilities." Abbott expressed his disappointment Sunday night after the House failed to pass a bill that would have put new restrictions on voting in Texas. The bill is expected to be added to the special legislative session that will take place later this year.
