Texas Grocery Stores Say Big Week Fueled By Pandemic Food Relief Funds

Texas grocery stores are having a busy week. As of Monday, more than $2 billion in pandemic food benefits for Texas families with school children is being loaded onto Lone Star Cards. A grocery industry consultant with the Texas Retailers Association says about $300 million will be loaded onto the cards every night for the rest of this month. Gov. Greg Abbott announced last week that more federal food benefits were on the way to Texas families. Abbott thanked the Department of Agriculture for the second round of food benefits.
