El Paso Congresswoman Escobar Criticizes Governor Abbott's Abortion Ban

El Paso Congresswoman Veronica Escobar has blasted Governor Greg Abbott's new ban on abortions, calling it a brazen attack against women's freedom to make decisions about their bodies. Governor Abbott signed the ban, considered one of the nation's most restrictive policies, into law yesterday morning. The ban makes it illegal to perform an abortion after a heartbeat is detected, which can be about six weeks into a pregnancy and often before a woman knows she's pregnant. There are no exceptions in cases of rape or incest. Congresswoman Escobar says she and her colleagues are going to reintroduce the Women's Health Protection Act to help protect access to abortion.
