State Legislature Considers Bill To Protect Personal Info Of Govt. Workers

Texas lawmakers are considering a bill that would keep state agencies from sharing certain information about government employees with the public. Republican Senator Jane Nelson of Flower Mound says Senate Bill 16 would require an individual's written consent before a state agency can share his personal information. Nelson says the bill is in response to an increased number of cases of personal data being compromised. The bill is coauthored by 29 of the 31 members of the Senate, indicating it has broad bipartisan support.
