Identities Of Austin Shooting Victims Released

The victims are being identified in a triple murder in Austin. Austin police say Amanda and Alyssa Broderick along with Willie Simmons III were shot to death yesterday near an apartment complex. Officers believe Amanda Broderick was meeting her ex-husband, Stephen Broderick, when he pulled a gun and started shooting. They also noted a car crash may have preceded the violence. Broderick, a former Travis County Sheriff's detective, fled the scene and was captured this morning in nearby Manor. He's expected to be charged with capital murder.

Elgin ISD says Alyssa Broderick and Willie Simmons III attended school there. Broderick was in the district from 2009 to 2020 and withdrew last fall. Simmons was the captain of the football team and signed a letter of intent to play at University of North Texas. The district calls their deaths a senseless tragedy and extends condolences to their families.
