State Rep Files Bill For Protection Of Health Care Workers From Violence

A state representative is introducing a bill in the legislature that would protect health care workers from workplace violence. Federal law doesn't address violence in nurses' workplaces. State Rep. Donna Howard, an Austin Democrat, wants state law to close the gap. OSHA doesn't require health care facilities to create violence prevention plans, though some states have passed laws that do so. Howard has filed a bill that will add Texas to the list, if the legislature enacts it into law in this year's session.
