Balcones Heights Police Officer Shot

A Balcones Heights police officer was wounded this afternoon after being shot while investigating suspicious people at the SOL Apartments near the I-10 and 410 Interchange.

Multiple gunshots were fired at the officer who was wounded in the neck, shoulder and arm.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar credited a second officer with saving the sergeant's life by getting him to a hospital. The suspects fled in a white Ford extended cab pickup which has been found. Salazar is encouraging two suspects to surrender. It's believed one of them was shot.

The wounded officer, Sgt. Joey Sepulveda, has been with the Balcones Heights Police Department for 18 years.

Balcones Heights Mayor Suzanne de Leon asked for prayers. "The family, his family, our city family, asks for all of your prayers and support that the sergeant will recover quickly and the people that made this happen will be caught quickly."
