Texas State Rep. Reintroduces Bill Abolishing Confederate Heroes Day

A Texas lawmaker wants to get rid of Confederate Heroes Day. State Representative Jarvis Johnson is reintroducing House Bill 36, which would abolish the January 19th holiday. He says now's the time to combat white supremacy and any historical representations of it. Confederate Heroes Day, honoring officials like President Jefferson Davis and General Robert E. Lee, has been observed in Texas since 1973. Johnson plans to host a virtual conference about the bill on Tuesday.
