Metro Health Working To See If New Virus Strain Has Made It To San Antonio

The Metropolitan Health District is working to find out whether a new strain of the coronavirus reported in Britain has made it to San Antonio. Dr. Anita Kurian, assistant director of Metro Health, says the new strain can be identified through the unusual step of looking at the genomic sequence. The new strain appears to spread more easily but doesn't seem to be deadlier. Health officials say existing vaccines should be effective against the new variant.
