Dallas Names 1st Hispanic Police Chief

Dallas has a new chief of police, the city's first Hispanic person to hold the office. Eddie Garcia, the recently retired 50-year-old police chief from San Jose, California, has been named to the position. Garcia had been with the San Jose force for 28-years and had been the chief there for the past five years.  He replaces Chief Renee Hall, who announced her resignation earlier this year. City leaders and police say Garcia's work is cut out for him, since Dallas is experiencing record violent crime rates lately.
