McCormick Named Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Finalist

UTSA sophomore running back Sincere McCormick has been named one of five finalists for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler announced Wednesday.

McCormick joins wide receiver Jaelon Darden of North Texas, D’Eriq King of Miami (Fla.), Kellen Mond of Texas A&M and Kyle Trask (Florida) on the list of finalists for the award, which recognizes the top offensive player in college football with ties to the state of Texas. The winner will be announced at a virtual award banquet in Tyler in late January 2021. He is the first Roadrunner to land on the award’s finalist list

Announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

Earlier this week, McCormick was tabbed Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year and first-team all-conference in a vote by the league’s head coaches. The Doak Walker Award semifinalist leads C-USA and ranks second in the FBS with a school-record 1,345 rushing yards to go along with a program-record 11 rushing touchdowns in 10 games this season.
